They often work in conflict settings to provide care to communities that do not have access to functioning healthcare systems. Surgical cases (children and adults) include general, trauma, obstetrics, orthopaedic, burns, and reconstruction. The role of an MSF anaesthetist is incredibly varied; in the course of a day, you might find yourself training local staff in a refugee camp hospital or managing anaesthesia for complex obstetric surgeries. Our maternity units and surgical projects deliver high-quality care, with internationally standardised protocols, hygiene procedures, technical platforms, and medical products. This is an exciting and diverse role involving some or all of the following: Responsibilities: Conduct pre-operative consultations to assess surgical risks and determine appropriate anaesthesia.
