Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced R&D Director to lead our technology development efforts and oversee the transition from our Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to a full-fledged product. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing lead customers, projects, and internal R&D activities, as well as collaborating with the technology team to drive the development of cutting-edge products or services aligned with the company's vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technology Development:
    • Technical project management
    • Contribution to technology roadmap
    • Management of lead customers, projects, and internal R&D activities
    • Lead the technological development efforts of the startup, overseeing the research, design, and implementation of innovative solutions and NRE contracts
    • Collaborate with the technology team to drive the development of cutting-edge products or services aligned with the company's vision
    • Ensure the efficient integration of technology solutions, optimizing performance and reliability
  • Business Development:
    • Represent company at trade fairs
    • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships, fostering collaboration with industry leaders and potential clients
    • Leverage market insights to identify new business opportunities
    • Oversee and lead NRE efforts on the business side
Requirements
  • PhD in an area related to Photonics, laser Physics, Semiconductor Physics
  • Excellent proficiency in English, fluency in German and French is a plus
  • Experience in technology development and business development, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment
  • Track record of guiding teams towards successful outcomes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
