Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Music Program Director to lead our band programs at Geneva College. As a key member of our Enrollment Team, you will provide instrumental and music instruction while recruiting prospective students for our band programs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Director of Bands: Provide leadership and direction for the College Band Program, including Marching, Concert, and Jazz bands.
  • Instrumental and Music Instruction: Teach instrumental methods courses in your field of experience on a rotation basis. Offer private lessons in your concentration area as needed. Be able to teach other music courses as desired and provide occasional supervision for student teaching.
  • Recruitment responsibilities: Achieve assigned enrollment goals by managing recruitment activity among prospective students for the College's Band program. Recruit alongside Enrollment Counselors, identifying students interested in any of the college's band programs, utilizing the Enrollment CRM. Maintain consistent contact with prospective students/parents with interest in Band through calling, emailing, social networking, texting, and personal notes inviting students to take necessary steps through the recruitment process, leading to enrollment. Develop and maintain relations with high school band directors within the region. Represent Geneva at various student recruitment events, on and off campus, as needed. Host campus visit events for prospective students that integrate visiting students with current students involved in the band (game-day visits, band festivals, etc.). Meet with prospective students and their parents during recruitment events and individual campus visits. Respond to student/parent questions in a timely manner. Actively participate in recruitment events such as open houses, scholarship events, and personal student visits.
Requirements:

This position requires:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or related field
  • Experience with a marching band and concert band program, instrumental methods classes, and Elementary and Secondary methods instruction
  • Successful experience as an ensemble conductor
  • Experience as a classroom teacher (preferably at the high school or college level)
  • Knowledgeable in current trends in marching band drill design and instrumental methods materials and software
  • A high level of professionalism and attention to detail
  • A positive attitude and strong communication (written and oral) skills
  • Strong public speaking ability
  • The ability to relate easily to high school students and their families
  • An understanding of Christian commitment and integration of faith in work
