PhD Researcher in 6G Networks

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to contribute to the design of future cellular networks beyond 5G. The successful candidate will participate in the development of techniques for supporting new applications and emerging use cases, such as 6DoF, augmented reality, autonomous coordinated driving, immersive gaming, and digital twins.

The candidate will join an international team spanning 20 countries across Europe, including universities, research institutions, and telcos. The team is part of a Horizon Europe project on 6G networks and is based in Sierre, a beautiful town in Switzerland.

The position is fully funded, with a competitive salary of about CHF 3,500 net per month. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and contribute to the development of novel algorithms and techniques for cellular communications.

Responsibilities:

• Apply various modelling approaches to cellular communications and design novel algorithms addressing several open issues
• Numerically assess the proposed solutions
• Conduct experimental evaluations

Requirements:

• A background in wireless networks and computer networking is desirable, but candidates from other backgrounds are welcome
• Strong analytical skills, resilient, passion for quality research
• Good proficiency in programming (e.g., C/C, Python, MATLAB)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Good verbal and written English skills
