Senior Electronic and Firmware Development Engineer R&D

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronic and Firmware Development Engineer R&D to join our team at Gi Group SA. As a key member of our R&D department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing electronic and firmware systems for our diagnostic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded software for our modules, including maintenance, bug fixing, and implementing new features.
  • Develop electronic systems from schematic design to system integration for new and existing instruments and technologies.
  • Conceptualize electronic modules, proposing proactive solutions based on customer and service feedback.
  • Create technical specifications, design, and verification documents according to our development process.
  • Perform and document feasibility studies and verification tests of instrument modules during the development phase.
  • Support the product after launch during its entire life cycle.
  • Redesign PCBs due to end-of-life and 2nd source topics.
  • Migrate firmware code to new microcontroller platforms.
  • Analyze complex electronic module code.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of field and production issues.
  • Collaborate with experts from various disciplines, departments, and external development partners.
  • Support less experienced developers.

Requirements

  • Hold a master's or bachelor's degree in electronic engineering with a focus on firmware development or comparable studies.
  • More than 10 years of experience in embedded software development in C (STM32 experience is a plus).
  • More than 5 years of experience in analog electronic design.
  • Knowledge in the area of motion control, focusing on stepper motors.
  • Ideal knowledge in thermal regulation and Peltier application.
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills, with German being a plus.
  • Independent and structured work style, self-initiative, and a willingness to work in a team.
