About the role

Cagi is a not-for-profit organization recognized by Swiss authorities for its commitment to victims' rights. We operate globally, coordinating with national and international lawyers to bring perpetrators to justice.

The Senior Legal Professional will work closely with our team under the supervision of the Director. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordination:
    • Liaise with national lawyers and prosecuting authorities
    • Foster relationships with stakeholders and partner organizations
    • Provide regular updates and progress reports to the Project Lead
    • Communicate effectively with project team members
    • Support logistics planning
  • Legal:
    • Conduct research and analysis on project-related matters
    • Draft and edit legal documents as required
    • Prepare investigations, including planning and mission coordination
    • Conduct open-source research and investigation
    • Collect evidence and conduct witness interviews
    • Identify leads and advise on potential perpetrators and sources of evidence
    • Participate in analytical report drafting
  • Other:
    • Support document preparation, agendas, minutes, and follow-up communications
    • Monitor conflict developments and conduct ad-hoc research related to the main investigation
    • Attend events and conferences as required

  • A genuine interest in victims' rights and comfort working with human rights abuse survivors
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Master's degree or equivalent in law, specializing in International Criminal Law, Human Rights Law, or similar
  • 5-7 years' experience in International Criminal Law, International Humanitarian Law, and/or Human Rights Law
  • Experience building international cases
  • Representing and/or working with victims
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken)
    • Working knowledge of French is an asset
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Excellent coordination and organizational skills
    • Analysis, research, and drafting skills
    • Opensource investigation skills
    • Motivation and interest in international justice
    • Computer proficiency and Microsoft Office applications
