Role Overview

This position involves working as a technician in the Superconducting RF Section at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for assembling, maintaining, and testing high-performance superconducting radio-frequency components and taking part in infrastructure management for both existing accelerators at CERN and upcoming projects.

The role holder will be based within the Accelerator Systems Department (SY), which is responsible for the beam-related technical systems of the CERN accelerators. They will be working within the RF Group, in the SRF Section, where they will contribute to the exploitation and future upgrades of the clean rooms, ultrapure water plants, high pressure water rinsing rigs, and other related SRF facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of the cleanroom assembly sequences for several cryomodule designs and for the definition, design, and implementation of future SRF facilities;
  • Develop and improve cleanroom assembly techniques and processes in accordance with the challenges proposed by the SRF cavity designs being developed by the CERN community;
  • Be responsible for the clean assembly of SRF components from cavities up to cryomodules in ISO4 environment;
  • Take responsibility for quality control procedures and documenting results;
  • Participate in the chemical treatment and cleaning of parts.
