About the Project:
">Empa, a leading research institution in Materials Science and Technology, is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join its team of experts. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of innovative wearable optical sensors designed to detect biomarkers relevant to wound healing.
">Project Background:
">Wound healing is a complex process that requires careful management to prevent infection and promote tissue regeneration. Current treatments often fall short, leading to chronic wounds and significant healthcare burdens. Our research aims to revolutionize wound care by developing precision, self-care integrated systems for spatiotemporal wound monitoring and patient-specific treatment.
">Your Role:
">As a PhD student, you will be responsible for designing and functionalizing hydrogels with transducers for sensing biomarkers in wound exudate. You will work closely with our team to develop novel fluorescent-based detection approaches and temporal/spatial controlled drug release systems.
">Requirements:
">- Master's degree in Chemistry or Materials Science
- Strong background in surface functionalization chemistries, spectrophotometric analysis, and synthesis of hydrogels (nanocomposites)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
