Job Description

The University of Bern's Division of Space Research and Planetary Sciences seeks a Professor in Experimental Physics to lead research efforts in space instrumentation for experimental planetary science. As a renowned expert in in-situ mass spectrometry, you will drive innovation in the development, construction, and exploitation of scientific instruments for major spacecraft missions.

You will join a vibrant community interacting in research, education, outreach, and administration as a member of the physics faculty. The Division offers excellent conditions, including laboratory infrastructure, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities to build space-grade hardware.

We seek an outstanding academic with a strong international network in space research, demonstrated expertise in instrument development, and leadership qualities. You will teach at BSc. and MSc. levels, including lecturing basic physics courses in German, with support for language development.
