We are seeking a talented Beam Dynamics Expert to join our Accelerator and Beam Physics group. As a member of this team, you will contribute to groundbreaking research on collective effects during ionisation cooling—a crucial step in delivering high-brightness muon beams.
Your responsibilities will include investigating collective effects that may impact ionisation cooling and the generation of high-brightness muon beams, studying beam interactions with electromagnetic wake fields in absorbers, gas-filled RF cavities, and other materials, analyzing the effects of ionisation-induced charge pairs and their impact on beam stability, and developing theoretical models and simulations to explore instabilities in the cooling process.
To succeed in this role, you will need a professional background in accelerator physics and muon colliders, a Master's degree with 2-6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience, fluency in English, and strong knowledge of beam dynamics, collective effects, particle-matter interaction, and electromagnetic fields.
Responsibilities
Investigate collective effects during ionisation cooling and their impact on beam stability.
Study beam interactions with electromagnetic wake fields and develop theoretical models to explore instabilities in the cooling process.
Collaborate with leading experts in the IMCC to advance muon collider technology.
Requirements
A national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
A professional background in accelerator physics and muon colliders.
A Master's degree with 2-6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
Fluency in English;
