At Lonza, we are looking for a talented Bioprocess Engineer Team Lead to join our Biologics organization. In this role, you will manage and coach a team of bioprocess engineers responsible for the successful transfer, scale up, supervision, and optimization of biopharma processes.


The ideal candidate will have a Master degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related discipline, and working experience in biotechnical manufacturing. They should also have experience with MES and DeltaV systems and possess good leadership and communication skills.


The Senior Bioprocess Engineer - Manufacturing Lead will be responsible for the creation and improvement of electronic master recipes on equipment and the implementation of automated processes. They will also interact with an interdisciplinary team of project leaders, supervisors, MES, and DeltaV specialists and be accountable for the performance and results of assigned projects.

Key responsibilities:


  • Manage a team of automation process engineers and MSATs with full responsibility for all aspects of human resource management.
  • Implement the Lonza culture via openness for change and new ideas, cooperative teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Accountable for the execution of all production campaigns in the manufacturing unit with regard to safety, quality, and delivery.
  • First contact person in case of production issues in the manufacturing unit according to common escalation guidelines.
  • Production Support, QA, and production teams with expertise in solution finding and trouble shooting.
  • Represent the operational area in customer meetings, audits, and regulatory inspections.

Key requirements:


  • Master degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or related disciplines.
  • Working experience in biotechnical manufacturing.
  • MES and DeltaV experience.
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong team orientation.
  • Structured, focused, and well-organized working attitude.
  • Agile, highly motivated, and dynamic drive.
  • Business fluent in German and/or English.
