The successful applicant will be working on a project that examines the ethical and social implications of new plant breeding technologies using a planetary health ethics approach.
Project DescriptionThe project is part of the National Research Program NRP84 funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. It aims to investigate the ethical and social aspects related to the acceptance of genetically modified food. The project involves both empirical and analytical components, including systematic review of reasons, content analysis of public debates, stakeholder interviews, and survey research.
Your Tasks- You will conduct a systematic review of reasons for the social and political acceptance of genetically modified food.
- Conduct content analysis of public debates in Switzerland and the US.
- Carry out qualitative stakeholder interviews to understand their perspectives on new plant breeding technologies.
- Mentor research assistants and supervise students.
- Document and present research findings in English.
- Master's degree in ethics, philosophy, bioethics, public health, social sciences, or medicine.
- Very good academic grades.
- Excellent language skills in English.
- Ability to contribute towards an empirical project.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
