Alpiq, a leading energy company, is seeking a highly skilled professional to lead the construction of utility-scale battery storage systems across Western Europe. As a key member of our Development & Projects team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our business and expanding our flexibility footprint in the region.
You will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process, from final investment decision to commercial operations and O&M stage, ensuring delivery within defined timelines, budgets, and quality standards. This will involve leading negotiations with external contractors, developing best-practices, and defining target construction approaches for projects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the construction of utility-scale battery storage systems, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Develop and implement risk management plans to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Establish and maintain governance and quality standards for BESS construction projects, including KPIs, reporting, and documentation.
- Lead and coordinate a small team of internal project managers and establish a resource pool with external resources, such as owner's engineers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and contribute to the overall success of our projects.
Your Profile:
- Proven experience in delivering complex construction projects in the renewables energy sector, with a strong technical understanding of utility-scale BESS systems.
- Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust and relationships in a complex and diverse environment.
- Strong commercial negotiation skills and experience in building high-performing teams with direct and indirect line management responsibility.
- Established network with relevant industry stakeholders and proficiency in English, with fluency in German and/or French.
