Job Title: Proteomics Laboratory Assistant
About the Job:
You will be part of an international team of specialists working in the Functional Genomics Center Zurich proteomics core facility. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting the team during sample preparation and data acquisition for various mass spectrometry-based proteomics workflows aimed at identifying, characterizing, and quantifying peptides and proteins using LC-MS from different biological sources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine sample preparation methods such as in-gel, on-beads, and in-solution digestion
- Evaluate and interpret quality control features during and after data acquisition
- Maintain different LC-MS instrument platforms
- Support practical organizational aspects of the proteomics laboratories
Requirements:
- Completed professional training as a chemistry or biology laboratory technician or, alternatively, a bachelor's degree in analytical chemistry, biology, or a closely related field
- Wet lab experience in biochemistry and/or analytical chemistry
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS and/or other protein analysis techniques is an asset
- Organizational skills with the flexibility to adapt to a wide range of analytical protocols in a highly dynamic environment
- Problem-solving skills
- Effective and good written and oral communication skills in English are a must, knowledge of German is helpful
- Team player, ambitious, and motivated to learn and make a difference through proteomics and protein analysis
