Job Description

As an International Legal Counsel, you will report directly to the Regional General Counsel and be responsible for managing European legal matters. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Legal Advice
    • Acting as the primary legal contact for various business functions (Sales, Procurement, Sustainability) and operational plants by providing precise, sound, and practical legal and contractual advice.
    • Consulting on complex legal issues and the implications of business initiatives, as well as supporting strategic legal matters.
  • Drafting and Negotiating Agreements
    • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of agreements (e.g., Supply and Services Agreements, T&Cs, NDAs, Cooperation Agreements) and other legal documents (e.g., policies, legal directives).
  • Ensuring Compliance
    • Ensuring compliance by monitoring legal and regulatory developments in Europe, determining, and implementing appropriate legal actions to mitigate compliance risks and regulations.
    • Collaborating closely with the corporate compliance team on business and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Leading Negotiations and Projects
    • Leading negotiations as well as legal and cross-functional projects.
  • Conducting Training and Engaging in International Matters
    • Conducting internal training on legal, regulatory, and contractual aspects.
    • Regularly engaging in cross-border and international matters.
  • Managing External Counsel and Litigation
    • Managing external counsel and litigation processes.

Requirements

  • A law degree (MLaw or equivalent) and admission to the bar in Switzerland or Germany (or a comparable jurisdiction).
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification work experience, preferably within a law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
  • Expertise in contract law and commercial law, including areas such as sales, procurement, competition law, and corporate law.
  • Expertise or strong interest in compliance matters (regulatory and business compliance) and sustainability-related issues.
  • Excellent proficiency in English and German; French is an advantage.
  • High motivation with the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
