Senior Microbiologist

Drive Innovation in Microbial Bioprocessing

At Lonza, we're committed to harnessing the potential of microbial production strains for biopharmaceutical applications. As a member of our Process Science and Technology team, you'll play a key role in driving the development of microbial upstream cultivation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take end-to-end responsibility for innovation projects, including planning, supervising, executing, analyzing, and reporting of laboratory experiments.
• Drive development, scouting, implementation, and routine operation of digital and modeling tools.
• Represent R&D projects to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the innovation process by evaluating and implementing new technologies and enabling a successful technology transfer to Lonza's Microbial CDMO services.

Requirements:

• PhD in biochemical engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a similar field. Alternatively, a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• Proven track record in microbial bioprocessing and process modeling. Experience in data management and data engineering is a plus.
• Experience with managing scientific development/innovation projects.
• Team spirit, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment combined with a lean-agile mindset.
• Good communication skills in English.
