Genf, Genf, Schweiz CERN Vollzeit

CERN's ATLAS experiment is seeking a talented software developer to join the Data Processing team. In this role, you will contribute to the development and optimization of the ACTS (A Common Tracking Software) toolkit—a high-performance track reconstruction software designed for the HL-LHC era and beyond.

The ACTS toolkit plays a crucial role in the ATLAS experiment's strategy for offline and Event Filter track reconstruction for Run 4 and future operations. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining ACTS-based track finding, fitting, and vertex reconstruction software.

You will focus on adapting and fine-tuning the software for the ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk) to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, you will lead and coordinate efforts to enhance the computational and physics performance of ACTS, supporting the ATLAS HL-LHC physics program.

As a core member of the ACTS development team, you will manage parts of the development and deployment processes. You will also provide advisory and supervision support to junior colleagues within ATLAS and collaborating institutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong programming skills in modern C++ techniques.
  • Solid understanding of track reconstruction concepts, algorithms, and their efficient implementation in High-Energy Physics (HEP) experiments.
  • Ability to communicate opinions, ideas, and suggestions convincingly, clearly, and in a logical and structured manner.
  • Professional background in Experimental Physics or a related field.
