Avionics Safety Specialist

As a leading manufacturer of innovative aircraft, Pilatus Aircraft Ltd seeks an experienced Avionics Safety Specialist to join their international team.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough safety assessments on avionics systems across all Pilatus aircraft types, ensuring compliance with stringent airworthiness regulations. This will involve defining, validating, and verifying system, software, and hardware safety requirements through rigorous risk assessments and fault tree analysis.
A key aspect of this role is the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, including internal teams and external customers, to maintain open communication channels while ensuring safety standards are met.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct safety assessments for avionics systems on all Pilatus aircraft types
- Define, validate, and verify system, software, and hardware safety requirements
- Execute risk assessments to support continued airworthiness
- Build safety classification of engineering changes
To succeed in this challenging role, candidates must possess:
- A university degree in Electrical or Mechanical Systems Engineering
- No less than 5 years of experience in performing safety assessments according to SAE ARP 4761: Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), System Safety Assessment (SSA) incl. Fault Tree Analysis, Common Mode Analysis (CMA)
- Practical experience with SAE ARP 4754 A for civil aircraft and system development
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to reach consensus with multiple stakeholders
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Fluency in English (at least C1); German would be an asset
