TDR Director Job Description

Provide scientific leadership and serve as a technical reference for research in infectious diseases of poverty.

Advise co-sponsors, UN agencies, and WHO Member States on research and implementation.

Oversee business planning, management, and fundraising for the Programme.

Develop strategic proposals and communicate activities to stakeholders.

Lead research and policy discussions at global, regional, and national levels.Direct and supervise Programme activities, ensuring compliance with policies and good practices.Represent TDR at policy and scientific meetings, providing technical expertise and advice.

Required Qualifications

Education

Essential: Advanced University degree in a relevant field.Desirable: PhD in an area related to tropical diseases and/or international health.

Experience

Essential:

15 years of management experience in global health, 10 years at the international level.5 years of experience in leading health research and/or global health with a focus on poverty-associated infectious diseases.

Desirable:

Experience working with the UN or World Bank System.Work experience in developing countries.Excellent professional recognition through awards and/or publication record.

Skills

Broad knowledge of research and public health aspects.Demonstrated research and management talent, vision, and leadership.Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
