About the Job

  • This is a 2-year contract position at CERN, with a possible extension of up to 36 months.
  • As an Embedded System Engineer, you will research and develop next-generation quench detection systems using novel low-power stimuli injection techniques.
  • You will focus on further developing this technique for applications in magnet test benches, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and the Future Circular Collider (FCC).

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop digitally controlled stimulus generation sources and high-precision measurement systems using state-of-the-art electronics.
  • Validate your developments through laboratory tests, magnet test bench tests, and IT string tests.
  • Study potential integration with existing quench detection and data acquisition systems.

Requirements

">
  • Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • Applicants should have a professional background in Electronics or a related field, with either:
    • a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
    • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • The applicant must not have had a CERN fellowship or graduate contract before.

  • A monthly stipend ranging between $7,000 and $8,000 USD, depending on your qualifications.
  • Coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
  • Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child, and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
  • 30 days of paid leave per year.
  • On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.
