The Opportunity

As a Biostatistics Director in Basel, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight across all biostatisticians within ophthalmology, ensuring a cohesive and high-performing team that drives excellence in service of our global strategy through study design, data analysis, and insights generation. You will report to the Global Head of Biostatistics and be responsible for leading the overall performance of the biostatistics team serving ophthalmology.

In this role, you will drive excellence in biostatistics by partnering cross-functionally across PD Data Sciences & Analytics to support portfolio delivery. You will also partner closely with other biostatistics leaders on common issues that impact therapeutic areas and/or biostatistics teams at Roche.

You will lead a global team of approximately 20-50 biostatisticians to support late-stage development within your area. Your direct reports will be a team of directors and above, and you will have a direct line to influence and contribute to the overall strategy and success of late-stage development programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and set a clear strategy and goals that align with Roche's objectives.
  2. Embed and drive the adoption of strategic imperatives across your team's workflows.
  3. Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the ophthalmology biostatistics strategy.
  4. Ensure biostatistical considerations are integrated early in study designs and development programs.
  5. Act as the primary liaison between the biostatistics function and key stakeholders across clinical, regulatory, and data science teams.
  6. Oversee data analysis and insights generation strategies.
  7. Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team of biostatistics leaders.
