At Lonza, we're looking for a skilled leader to join our BioAtrium team as a Head of MSAT BioAtrium Operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a team of process experts for mammalian manufacturing within the BioAtrium, Visp. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing human resource management such as qualification, development, coaching, hiring, pay decisions, and discipline issues.
  • Responsible for resource and vacation planning of the assigned team members with regard to the fulfillment of all production orders.
  • Ensuring a good information exchange from the upper management levels to your team and the other way around through regularly team meetings and escalation of production issues.
  • Implementing the BioAtrium culture via openness for change and new ideas, cooperative teamwork, and continuous improvement even outside your area of responsibility.
  • As a member of the BioAtrium Operations Leadership Team, responsible for all aspects related to MSAT.
  • Ensuring and managing the interfaces to Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Plant Engineering, QA, and QC and other groups related to MSAT topics.
  • Responsible for control of your own cost center, identifying and implementing cost reduction measures.
  • Representing the facility during inspections and audits as SME for your area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for the implementation of standardized MSAT procedures and processes.
  • Supporting business development through evaluation support and support in customer meetings.
  • Planning and supervision of MSAT activities to ensure successful process transfer into the BioAtrium manufacturing Plant and ensuring that the processes are delivering the required products safely, timely, cost-effectively, with the required quality.
  • Responsible for developing continuous improvement programs for the processes to reduce cost and increase productivity through Operational Excellence and Innovation initiatives.
  • Supporting the development of department goals and strategy within the BioAtrium Leadership team in line with respect to overall goals of BioAtrium.
  • Ensuring proper execution of all people management activities including training, development, and retention of associates according to the needs of the BioAtrium production unit.
  • Ensuring excellent interaction and communication of team members with customers during tech transfer, campaign preparation, execution, and closure including daily reporting of batch status and performance.
  • Representing MSAT during regulatory inspections and customer audits.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor/Master degree, PhD preferred.
  • Preferred area of study: Biotechnology, chemical engineering, or related disciplines.
  • More than 10 years of experience in the area of biopharma manufacturing and/or process development preferable in the area of Mammalian or Microbial Manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership skills; very good communication skills and interaction with all kinds of interfaces within customers and the project organization.
  • GMP experience as well as deep understanding of Bioprocess technology.
  • Structured, focused, and well-organized working attitude.
  • Fluent in English.
