About the Role

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) seeks a highly skilled Digital Content Strategist to join its Web Communications Section. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for creating digital communication strategies and web information architecture for new pages and drafting optimized web content for publication on wipo.int.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create digital communications strategies for new and revamped pages – including communication objectives, audience, content type, and platforms – based on web analytics and in alignment with WIPO's communications and business goals.
  • Define information architecture and produce basic wireframes for new and revamped pages – showcasing the page's layout, functionality, and placement within wipo.int, including suggestions for optimized URLs, breadcrumbs, links, and tags.
  • Create (or greatly edit expert-prepared) web content that is optimized (SEO), accessible, and in alignment with WIPO's tone of voice (TOV), universal look and feel (ULF), and UX best practices.
  • Liaise with subject matter-experts in WIPO to inform and later review the strategy/information architecture and content prepared, conduct interviews with representatives of companies to be featured in stories.
  • Edit, tag, and implement visual assets for web usage in a variety of formats (image, animation, illustration, video, audio, infographic, etc.) and/or source, retouch, and acquire usage rights for paid assets.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • University degree and/or recent certifications in communications, business, digital marketing, writing, web design, or other relevant disciplines.
  • At least 6 years of experience in digital communications, preferably in relation to intellectual property.
  • Experience working in/for an international organization with a global user base.
  • Excellent ability to write modern, user-focused content in English; strong interviewing skills and ability to engage in productive dialogue with representatives of private sector and WIPO subject matter experts from different cultures.
  • Ability to create and edit visual content (Photoshop, Canva, Illustrator, etc.); good understanding of best practices in UX, content design, SEO, information architecture, and web design.
  • Proven experience in structuring web content (content audits, content flow templates, information architectures, taxonomies).
  • Ability to structure information and create user-focused designs for web pages (including use of wireframing/prototyping tools such as e.g. Balsamiq, Sketch, Figma).
  • Strong organizational, time management, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • An eye for detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Diplomatic, creative, and patient approach to collaboration.
