Mobile Wireless Network Engineer

General Motors of Canada is looking for a skilled Wireless Network Operations Specialist to support the performance, operations, and optimization of our wireless network systems in connection with our connected vehicle services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our connected vehicle services.

This role requires a deep understanding of carrier wireless networks, backend systems, and their interactions, with a strong focus on troubleshooting, monitoring, and analysis of network performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with mobile network technologies, including GSM, UMTS, and LTE, as well as a proven track record of resolving complex network issues.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Support network connectivity or related network issues for user community.
  2. Troubleshoot and resolve problems with our wireless carriers.
  3. Develop monitors to measure network activity and identify possible network problems.
  4. Understand and document system workflows associated with back-end interactions between wireless service providers and GM backend systems.
  5. Develop monitors and metrics to measure the carrier integration API performances.
  6. Execute network test plans, as needed, for new device launch and troubleshooting.
  7. Resolve engineering-related problems and create alternative solutions to ensure continued operation.
  8. Participate in technical discussions with development teams and/or other stakeholders.
  9. Create change requirements by describing high-level business objectives, business benefits, and functional requirements.
  10. Participate in co-validation sessions with IT counterparts as an SME to ensure correct implementation of requirements.
  11. Collaborate with wireless carriers and vendor partners to resolve performance issues.
  12. Develop and improve operational playbooks with other System Operations team members.
  13. Guide fellow team members and engineering teams on wireless network topics.
  14. Travel as required.
  15. Use visualization tools to extract data and provide insights.
  16. Operational support per on-call schedule.
  17. Handle escalated customer tickets and issues.
