Job Summary

The Global Lead - Structured Commodity Finance is responsible for the strategic direction and management of ING's Commodity Finance product globally.

This role involves devising the strategy for the growth business, driving commercial performance, and managing financial and non-financial risks.

The successful candidate will be a senior, client-facing banker who drives ING's differentiating factors and value proposition versus its competitors.

The role requires pursuing and implementing key ING priorities, including capital velocity, cross-sector collaboration, cross-buy, innovation, and sustainability.

The Global Lead - Structured Commodity Finance will ensure operational excellence and compliance in this strategic product offering.

The role also involves managing and supporting the continued professional development of the team.

The Global Lead - Structured Commodity Finance will maintain a robust risk culture within the team in a manner that instills a strong and collaborative way of working with partners in the Risk function.

The role requires collaboration with Trade & Commodity Finance colleagues and Risk Management teams to develop the Commodity Finance franchise.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop the Commodity Finance strategy, ensuring it is aligned with the overall ING strategy and the global Trade & Commodity Finance strategy.
• Set and develop long-term plans for the product and identify growth opportunities and drive differentiation of customer value proposition versus competitors.
• Work closely with Trade & Commodity Finance Deal Principals and Team Leads to facilitate the origination, structuring, and execution of new Commodity Finance deals and manage and monitor the existing portfolio of deals.
• Responsible for the global Commodity Finance P&L.
• Coordinate and foster collaboration with other sector teams/leads to fully harness ING's sector expertise.
• Coordinate with Risk and Trade & Commodity Finance Management Team to ensure alignment on key priorities, risk appetite, and the strategic direction of the business.
• Develop/update Commodity Finance Performance and Risk Profile.
• Provide senior representation and thought leadership externally, including attendance at industry conferences.
• Ensure regulatory compliance in line with ING procedures.
• Attract, engage, and develop talents and build a high-performing team.
• Establish and maintain relations with other banks active in the Commodity Finance space.

Required Experience

We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of commodities markets and extensive knowledge of Wholesale Banking products and risk management.

• 10-15 years of work experience in the commodities industry.
• Experience in managing complex producer/processing-related financing structures.
• Proven track record of managing and growing businesses, preferably new businesses.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to execute.
• Highly experienced in complex stakeholder management.
• Good knowledge/experience of regulatory requirements and risk management (financial & non-financial).
• A growth mindset and ability to operate in ambiguity.
• End-to-end thinking (considering the complete value chain) and then the doing (laying out execution), including stakeholder management.
• Qualification/Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or closely related quantitative field; MBA preferred.
