About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Chemist to join our team at the Swatch Group Research and Development Ltd in Marin-Epagnier, Switzerland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop robust surface cleaning and coating processes on vacuum-based equipment.
  • Analyze samples using phenomenological testing, perform in-depth defect analyses, and propose and demonstrate improved processes.
  • Document and promote solutions, realize prototypes, and upscale processes for mass production.
  • Independently define and manage R&D projects internally and with external partners to achieve fixed objectives.
  • Perform technology scouting and early-state identification of the latest trends in surface treatment and coating technologies.

Requirements

  • University-level education in physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, or solid-state physics.
  • Proficiency in surface and interface chemical and physical phenomena, including adhesion and corrosion.
  • Practical experience in ALD process engineering is an asset.
  • Habitude of taking initiative and working independently.
  • Strong motivation to take an active part in a multidisciplinary and international team for continuous improvement and innovation in products and technologies.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in oral French is required, with the ability to become fluent.
  • Good oral and written English is essential for our scientific and engineering environment.
