Role Summary
The Section Head of Process Chemistry & Catalysis is a key position within our Synthetic Molecules Technical Development department, responsible for leading a team of scientists and associates in the development of safe, robust, and sustainable commercial manufacturing processes for synthetic drug substances.
This role requires a high level of expertise in process chemistry, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills to inspire and motivate a team of scientists and associates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing process chemistry strategies to ensure the efficient and effective production of synthetic drug substances.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement and implementing changes to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Providing technical guidance and support to team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements through the application of principles of Quality by Design to drug substance development and corresponding documentation.
- Maintaining relationships with external partners and vendors to secure access to critical supplies and services.
About You:
- A PhD degree in organic chemistry with at least 10 years' experience in process chemistry for synthetic molecules (including small molecule, oligonucleotides, and peptides).
- Proven track record of successful process development and implementation in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of scientists and associates.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
- Proficient in the use of various software tools and technologies relevant to process chemistry and manufacturing.
