We are seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer to join our Instruments team at Straumann, a global leader in implant and restorative dentistry. As a key member of our cross-functional team, you will be responsible for the development of dental implant instruments, workflows, and cassettes, as well as supporting the continuous improvement of launched products.
Key Responsibilities- Drive the design and development of dental implant instruments, workflows, and cassettes from concept to commercialization.
- Translate user needs and standards into design specifications.
- Coordinate verification and validation activities.
- Manage design transfer activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are executed within established timelines and budget constraints, considering the design control process.
- Author technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, microengineering, bioengineering, materials sciences, or a related field of study; MSc is preferred, advanced degree is a plus and may count as working experience.
- 3-5 years' experience in a related area such as development of medical devices or other highly regulated products.
- Experience in dental implant development is a plus.
- Knowledge in materials, development, manufacturing, and testing of medical devices.
- Knowledge of the design control process.
- Familiarity with specific development tools (e.g., statistical analysis, FMEA, analysis of mechanical properties, etc.).
- Experience operating in a matrixed environment.
- Good communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing; additional languages are a plus.
