The PhD project will focus on developing and applying novel approaches for the study of functional catalytic compounds. This may involve the development of advanced dynamic methods for detailed and realistic studies of reaction mechanisms and networks, taking into account environmental effects under catalytic conditions. Additionally, we may explore the application of machine learning techniques to enhance sampling and improve accuracy.We have a broad experience in modelling reactions using DFT-MD, catalysis (such as water splitting), spectroscopy, excited states, and development of various methodologies (e.g., in the CP2K package).
The project(s) may be carried out in close collaboration with experimental or other computational groups, for instance within the NCCR catalysis.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this position, the candidate must hold an excellent Master's degree in chemistry, interdisciplinary natural sciences, physics, or related fields. Profound English skills and autonomous learning abilities are also essential. The successful candidate will be highly creative, ambitious, and motivated. Strong programming skills and very good knowledge about electronic structure theory, (ab initio) molecular dynamics, catalysis, and machine learning are advantageous.Benefits
