Estimated Salary Range: 120,000 - 180,000 per annum

This role is open to applicants with experience in managing and operating data center facilities, power systems, cooling systems, and security measures. Advanced technical knowledge of VMware vSphere, Windows Server, Linux Server, Storage, and Backup is essential.

Data Center Manager Responsibilities
  • Ensure the efficient, reliable, and secure operation of IT/OT infrastructure within the data center.
  • Develop and implement global data center standards and oversee regional DCs.
  • Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for IT technical infrastructure topics at the Visp site for external service providers and the central infrastructure team.
  • Engage with local mechanical service teams to maintain operational readiness of data center facilities in Visp.
  • Assign tasks to Data Center Operations staff and govern their work.
  • Define the global data center strategy and roadmap based on organizational needs.
  • Establish cabling and labeling standards and develop an installation concept.
  • Develop and test the technical disaster recovery plan for the site and refresh it periodically.
  • Manage the lifecycle of IT infrastructure assets and associated risks.
  • Plan and oversee data center expansions or migrations, including capacity planning and risk assessments.
  • Drive continuous improvements, standardization, and automation of infrastructure systems.
  • Maintain consistency and maintainability of existing infrastructure environments through well-documented standards and procedures.
  • Document physical installations, including rack layouts.
  • Evaluate adherence to security and compliance policies and procedures within the IT infrastructure scope.
  • Monitor data center performance and troubleshoot issues, implementing solutions to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing data center facilities.
  • Advanced technical skills with VMware vSphere, Windows Server, Linux Server, Storage, and Backup.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals.
  • Business fluency in English and German.
  • Knowledge of security hardening and best practices.
  • Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams in a global environment.
  • Proven experience with simplification and standardization of infrastructure.
  • Able to drive cultural and technological disruption.
  • Experience building, scaling, and monitoring infrastructure.
  • Prior experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications like Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), Certified Data Center Management Professional (CDCMP) are advantageous.
