Job Description

LNG Crew Officer Specialist Role

The LNG Crew Officer Specialist is a critical member of the MSC Cruises team, serving as the First Engine Officer on board our LNG-fuelled vessels. This position plays a vital role in operating the entire LNG system and related gas auxiliary systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of LNG systems and ancillaries, including compressors, nitrogen generators, GCU, glycol systems, and GVU.
  • Liaise with the LNG Superintendent to guarantee the operability of the LNG system and adherence to Company instructions (MSC Procedures, SMS).
  • Explain LNG-related procedures and instructions to other crew members and act as an LNG trainer.
  • Be available to operate at any time onboard to intervene and resolve issues related to LNG systems or gas safety-sensitive matters.
  • Record a full history of LNG system situations and be able to consult it for detailed analysis of any events that may occur.
  • Oversee LNG bunkering, inverting, gas freeing, tank warming, and aerating operations.

Requirements:

  • Fluent English language knowledge. Italian language knowledge is a plus.
  • 2 years' experience in LNG-fuelled vessel construction or 3 years' experience in LNG/LPG tanker (or offshore) yard experience as a yard member or shipowner representative involved in gas system installation, or 5 years in MSC as a first Engine officer.
  • Advanced STCW certificate for gas-fuelled vessels.
  • Perfect knowledge and understanding of LNG bunkering for MSC LNG Cruise ships.
  • Risk Analysis methodology knowledge.
  • Exhaustive knowledge and understanding of LNG-related documentation and rules/regulations related to gas-fuelled ships.
  • Proficient use of the Microsoft Office suite and basic knowledge of CAD.
  • Availability to work long hours, under pressure, and overtime when required.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
