Job Description:

Sensor Development Engineer Role: The Product Care Team at Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz (ZG) seeks an inquisitive and self-reliant professional to join their team-oriented environment. As a key member, you will develop, characterize, and optimize different electrochemical sensors for medical devices in IVD diagnostics.

The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of materials, including glasses, metals, polymers, and chemicals, and their interactions with sensors and biological samples. You will work independently in a multidisciplinary team, collaborating across business units to support and coordinate design and material changes.

In this role, you will address product care topics arising from in-house Sensor Production, implement changes based on fundamental principles, experimental data, and simulation models, and help bring those changes into new and existing products. Additionally, you will plan, execute, evaluate results, and document your work within the framework of development, product care, and operations support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Address production issues, deviations, root cause analysis, and risk assessment
• Implement changes based on fundamental principles, experimental data, and simulation models
• Plan, execute, evaluate, and document work within development, product care, and operations support
• Test and analyze sensor designs using various characterization methods
• Develop new tools, methods, and processes to evaluate sensors
• Support the team with scientific expertise and practical knowledge
• Interact across business units to support and coordinate design and material changes

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A higher technical education (bachelor or master) in chemistry, physics, material science, or electrical engineering
• Understanding of materials and their interactions with sensors and biological samples
• Experience working in a highly regulated environment
• Ability to document results at a high technical level
• Excellent communication skills in English; German is an advantage
• Experience with developing new characterization methods and implementing them in test methods, setups, or tools
• Proficiency in acquiring, processing, and analyzing data with appropriate tools (Matlab, Excel, MiniTab, R, Python)
