Biospecimen Specialist

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Biospecimen Specialist to join our team at Roche Diagnostics International AG in Rotkreuz. As a key member of the Biospecimen Acquisition & Management team, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end biorepository activities to fulfill customer specimen requests.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Science and experience in handling biological specimens. You will work with potentially infectious biological material and possess knowledge in MS Excel and Google suite. Fluency in English is required, with German being a plus.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage and perform biological material supply, receipt, registration, shipment, returns, verification activities, retrievals, inventory searches, and identifies and resolves discrepancies in a validated environment.
2. Collaborate with relevant permitting agencies, import/export compliance, and local Safety and Biorepository Teams to comply with permit requirements.
3. Maintain information in a validated laboratory information management system compliant with GxP principles and standards.
4. Assume responsibility for accuracy, quality, and timeliness of work within supported projects and respond appropriately to changing priorities.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Science.
2. Experience in handling biological specimens & willingness to work with potentially infectious biological material (Biosafety level 2).
3. Proficient with MS Excel and Google suite.
4. English B2 Level.
5. Hepatitis vaccination available.
6. Able to lift 30lbs, work in a cold environment with limited daylight, stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders.
7. Self-motivated and solution-driven individual who can maintain quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables.
8. Ability to follow standard procedures and strong understanding of the concept of biospecimen traceability.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with efficiency; capable of handling multiple projects.
10. Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
11. Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder management.
12. Team player, self-organized, and motivated individual.
13. Meticulous attention to detail.

Desirable Skills

1. Experience in biospecimen acquisition, biobanking, clinical trial management, interfacing with stakeholders and/or project management.
2. Experience in research, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, CRO or medical device industry.
3. Experience in the use of LIMS or other validated systems.
4. Understanding of regulatory requirements related to diagnostics.
5. German language skills.
