CERN's Geodetic Metrology group is seeking a skilled mathematician to develop innovative measurement techniques and algorithms for the Future Circular Collider (FCC) study. As a member of this team, you will contribute to the development of R&D for next-generation colliders, focusing on theoretical aspects related to statistical data processing and mathematical modeling.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop mathematical models to describe the behavior of new devices and sensors, based on the latest experimental results.
- Study complex measurement systems, establish corresponding theoretical models, and optimize their configuration.
- Develop and apply parameter estimation techniques, including least squares and robust estimation methods.
- Address future challenges related to large-scale optimization, proposing scalable solutions for high-dimensional problems.
- Design real-time estimation algorithms with a focus on speed and efficiency for time-sensitive applications.
Requirements:
- Master's degree or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Geodesy, or Geomatics, with a focus on optimization and parameter estimation.
- Proven ability to understand engineering challenges and translate them into well-defined mathematical problems.
- Demonstrated experience in mathematical modeling, algorithm development, and data processing.
