Job Summary
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in urban meteorology, focusing on CO2 flux observations and modelling. This opportunity is part of our Horizon project CLMS-Cities, aiming to develop a new urban CO2 emission product for the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service.
In this role, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers from across Europe to develop a novel bottom-up methodology for estimating urban CO2 emissions. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and contributing to the methodology
- Evaluating urban eddy covariance observations
- Operating micrometeorological towers, including data acquisition, database management, and data processing
You will also engage in standard research activities of the group, teach at Bachelor's and Master's levels (in English or German), and support student supervision.
Requirements
This role requires a PhD in environmental sciences, meteorology, physics, biology, or a related field. Applicants should possess excellent coding skills (e.g., Python, R, or Matlab) and experience in computational methods and numerical analysis. Research experience in micrometeorology or urban climatology, as well as hands-on experience with eddy covariance applications, would be beneficial.
