Job Description

The Department of Materials at ETH Zurich is seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our team as a PhD position in advanced laser spectroscopy. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and setting up experiments to advance the concept of ferroic order at a fundamental level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and set up experiments to investigate ferroic materials using nonlinear-optical techniques
  • Develop and implement new methods for spatially resolved imaging and manipulation of domains in ferroic materials
  • Collaborate with theoretical groups to develop a deeper understanding of ferroic order
  • Conduct experiments using class-IV lasers and related techniques
  • Work in a team environment to achieve project goals
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Physics or Materials Physics
  • Hands-on experience with class-IV lasers and related techniques
  • Basic education in condensed matter physics
  • Strong motivation, self-organization, creativity, and ability to think critically
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-specialists
