Job Summary:
Viking Cruises is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stateroom Steward/ess to join our team. As a Stateroom Steward/ess, you will be responsible for providing exceptional housekeeping services to our guests, ensuring their staterooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional and personalized housekeeping services to guests, including making beds, vacuuming and dusting, cleaning stateroom verandas, bathrooms, toilets, windows, and mirrors.
- Ensure the general maintenance of staterooms, report any deficiencies for repair and maintenance, and replace stateroom glassware and coffee machines.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of guest staterooms and handle guest complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Make ice deliveries, provide laundry pick-up and delivery, and shoeshine services for guests.
- Handle cleaning products, materials, and housekeeping equipment, separate and remove garbage, and clean garbage as needed to maintain public health standards.
- Participate in luggage duty on embarkation and disembarkation days.
- Participate in daily reunions to understand team operational needs and ensure consistent adherence to Viking's STAR Service Standards.
- Provide exceptional service to guests, maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and adhere to all public health policies.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and use correct lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
- Uphold impeccable grooming standards and ensure company property is secured and protected.
- Demonstrate flexibility, work at different times of the day, and reflect a positive can-do attitude.
- Become knowledgeable about itinerary-related ports of call, shore excursions, and shipboard activities.
- Have strong motivation to achieve company goals and objectives for the Housekeeping Department.
- Have full knowledge of safety and security procedures and participate in all required training.
- Manage stateroom minibars and assist in other departments as needed.
Requirements:
- Must have housekeeping experience, cleaning 15-20 rooms twice daily.
- Previous experience working in an operation with high standards of guest services and cleanliness, such as 5-star deluxe ships, is required.
- Must be able to do extensive walking, stand on feet for long periods, and physically handle 50+ pounds.
- Must have good English communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
- Must be guest-focused, service-oriented, and have a positive personality, professional appearance, and impeccable hygiene standards.
- Must be able to work with various chemicals and cleaning tools and have excellent knowledge of all public health policies.
Mandatory Requirements & At-Will Employment:
- Ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Ability to work as necessary to complete all assigned tasks and fulfill responsibilities in your assigned role.
- Ability to meet moderate physical demands, including lifting, bending, climbing, and long periods of standing or walking.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Viking Cruises is an At-Will Employer, and employment is subject to termination with or without cause or notice at any time.
- Will and able to work 10-12 weeks straight on the ship followed by 3 weeks vacation.
Guidelines and Regulations:
- Implement Standard Operating Procedures and STAR Service Standards within the department.
- Ensure appropriate appearance and clothing according to the updated Grooming Standards.
