Job Summary

The Global Sustainability Director will lead Specialized's sustainability vision, strategy, and program execution. This role will work cross-functionally across the enterprise to develop and scale solutions related to measuring, managing, and lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The Director will define and coordinate Specialized's net zero strategy and work with cross-functional teams to accelerate the company's sustainability roadmap.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies and programs to achieve short and long-term sustainability targets.
  • Lead a team of sustainability professionals to build and implement programs that support sustainability initiatives.
  • Consult with assemblers, suppliers, product teams, and supply chain leadership to deliver actionable GHG emissions plans.
  • Develop and manage global sustainability-related supplier and industry organization partnerships.
  • Implement systems, practices, and procedures to enable measurement and reporting of sustainability performance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a consultant to support sustainability initiatives, working cross-functionally with product, marketing, sourcing, and PR teams.
  • Influence cross-functionally to educate, prioritize, gain support, and embed sustainability strategy into all areas of the organization.
  • Develop and mentor direct and indirect reports to support and develop wider sustainability skillsets.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices to develop a sustainability roadmap of programs/projects to meet sustainability targets.
  • Establish adherence to sustainability laws and regulations; assess risk management and enact internal policies.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, together with 10+ years of related experience in sustainability, climate, or energy leading transformations in a similar business environment.
  • 3+ years people leadership experience.
  • Ability to build effective internal and external partnerships, interacting and influencing successfully with diverse individuals at all levels.
  • Experience implementing sustainability initiatives and stakeholder reporting using relevant systems/technology.
  • Knowledge of science-based targets and environmental sustainability reporting frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovatively, and creatively using sound business judgment and quantitative skills.
  • Proven ability to lead transformational change and lead through influence.
  • Ability to travel internationally ~25%.
