Job Description

This exciting opportunity is part of our Trade Relations Division, where you will play a key role in shaping EFTA's engagement with partner countries outside the European Union. Your responsibilities will include providing comprehensive services to Member States on issues related to legal and institutional aspects of trade agreements, including dispute settlement, trade remedies, and competition policies.

You will also contribute to the development of trade policy questions, such as intellectual property rights, data protection, and other fields covered by EFTA's comprehensive free trade agreements. Additionally, you may be involved in country desk responsibilities, coordinating EFTA's preferential trade relations with several partner countries.

In this role, you will work closely with our international team and partners to advance EFTA's interests and achieve our goals. Your expertise and knowledge will be invaluable in helping us navigate complex trade negotiations and ensuring that our policies align with the needs of our member states.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this challenging and rewarding role, you will need:

  • A master's degree in international law, economics, or a related field;
  • Expertise in international trade policy and rules, with a strong understanding of relevant international legal frameworks;
  • Knowledge of French and possibly other work-related languages would be an asset;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively;
  • Experience working in a national administration, international organisation, or related research or private sector activity would be beneficial;
