Job Title: Principal Designer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Designer to join our team at ABB Schweiz AG. As a Principal Designer, you will be responsible for the specialist management of automation ET/MSR technology hardware and lead the development of innovative and high-quality automation solutions from design and documentation to factory acceptance and commissioning planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Principal Lead for ET/MSR Technology Process Automation Hardware for Power Plants: You will be responsible for the specialist management of automation ET/MSR technology hardware and lead the development of innovative and high-quality automation solutions.
• Creating Work Packages, Planning, and Managing Execution: You will create work packages, plan, and manage their execution, including your own contribution to the design.
• Supporting Project Managers: You will support project managers in close cooperation in technical customer questions, risk management, and customer claims.
• Ensuring Consistency of Technical Concepts: You will ensure the consistency of technical concepts for engineering, testing, assembly, and commissioning.
• Reviewing Project Documentation: You will review complete project documentation for compliance, safety, and quality assurance and contractual obligations.
• Applying State-of-the-Art Design Methods: You will apply state-of-the-art design methods, tools, and technical processes in design development.
• Developing Technical Discipline: You will play a key role in developing this technical discipline within the organization for longer-term competence assurance.
• Communicating Technical Designs: You will communicate technical designs and processes with stakeholders and contribute during design reviews and project meetings.
• Supporting Supply Chain: You will support the supply chain by offering reviews, supplier qualification, product specification, and master data maintenance.

Requirements:

• 8 Years of Professional Experience: You will have 8 years of professional experience in design and project realization of electrical installations for process automation in larger plants, including several projects in a leading role.
• Sound Knowledge of Regulations: You will have sound knowledge of the locally applicable regulations and directives in Switzerland as well as applicable international codes and standards.
• Excellent Knowledge of EPLAN Software: You will have very good knowledge of the EPLAN software.
• Business Fluency in German and English: You will be business fluent in German and English, and French is an asset.
• Initiative, Creativity, and Attention to Detail: You will demonstrate initiative, creativity, and attention to detail.
• Emphatic Team Player: You will live an emphatic team and solution-oriented way of working and have very good written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid Basic Education: You will have a solid basic education in the field of electrical installations with continuing education at a University of Applied Science ideally in the field of electrical engineering/automation.
