We are seeking an experienced and results-driven leader to join our executive management team as Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with experience in executive leadership roles in an international group environment. The position will be based in Bern, Switzerland, and will cover both businesses across two countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, and drive the company's financial strategy and hiring needs
- Coordinate the development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same
- Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization
- Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization with strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows
- Comply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action
- Act as a general counsel coordinator via in-house (AL Group) or external law firms to minimize legal risks by advising the company's other officers and board members on any major legal and regulatory issues the company confronts
- Work with senior managers of respective entities and business lines to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information (commercial offer reviews, efficiency projects or other), and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting
- Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement
- Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives
- Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for earnings calls, management team, and rest of company
- Compliance and Internal controls
- Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities (ex: Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)
About You
- Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance
- International finance experience
- Professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant)
- Strong implementation-oriented leader with steadfast resolve and personal integrity, who identifies and uses the individual strengths and potential in the team
- Experience in executive leadership roles in an international group environment
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
- English (must), French and/or German - business Professional Working Proficiency or Full Professional Proficiency
