At Helvetas, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented International Development Assistant to join our team. As an integral part of our International Programs Department and Advisory Services/Learning & Innovation team in Zurich, you will play a crucial role in supporting our efforts in development cooperation and humanitarian response.

About the Role

In this dynamic position, you will dedicate approximately 70% of your time to supporting the International Programs Department and the remaining 30% to the Learning & Innovation team. This unique opportunity allows you to engage with diverse projects and make a meaningful impact in our organization.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide general administration for the International Programs Department, including contracting, procurement, correspondence, travel arrangements, and ad hoc requests.
  • Offer comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to the International Program Directors.
  • Welcome visitors and coordinate their programs, meetings, and induction schedules for new staff.
  • Assist with the administration of country programs and humanitarian responses.
  • Facilitate the organization of meetings and events.
  • Maintain document filing in the intranet and on SharePoint, and support the migration to SharePoint.
About the Teams

The International Programs Department and the Learning & Innovation team work together to achieve our goals in development cooperation and humanitarian response. The International Programs Department is responsible for managing our country programs and responding to humanitarian crises, while the Learning & Innovation team focuses on knowledge management, learning, and innovation.

Your Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of Kauffrau/Kaufmann EFZ or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience: At least three years of relevant work experience.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in German and in English (at least B2 level) with additional languages being a plus.
  • Administrative Knowledge: Strong understanding of administrative processes.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly accurate and efficient in managing administrative tasks.
  • Service Orientation: Proactive and dedicated to providing exceptional service.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competent in IT tools, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, SAP, and SharePoint; a genuine interest in technology is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn combined with being open and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges.
  • Strong interest in the work of a development cooperation.
