Supply Chain Manager for Battery Energy Storage Systems

We are seeking a highly skilled Supply Chain Manager to join our Development & Projects team at Alpiq. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end supply chain for our utility-scale battery storage systems (BESS) projects in Western Europe.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Define Supply Chain Strategy: Collaborate with our legal, procurement, sustainability, and business teams to establish a comprehensive supply chain strategy for BESS projects.
  • Evaluate and Build Supplier Network: Identify and build relationships with relevant suppliers and partners in the battery technology, electrical engineering, procurement, and construction sectors.
  • Procurement and Quality Management: Define procurement criteria, process, and quality standards. Manage supplier relationships, plan and execute tenders, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery during construction projects.
  • Market Monitoring and Commercial Strategies: Monitor market trends in technology, innovation, and cost, and suggest related commercial strategies to optimize supply chain costs and improve efficiency.
  • Project Collaboration and Decision-Making: Collaborate with business developers, project managers, and other stakeholders during different stages of a BESS project, from project acquisition to final commissioning. Provide inputs for decision-making and perform required assessments.
  • Quality Standards and Risk Management: Develop quality standards and ensure that all BESS components and systems meet established technical, legal, compliance, and sustainability standards. Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including disruptions, delays, and quality issues.
Your Profile:
  • Collaborative and Intrapreneurial Mindset: Highly collaborative, with the ability to build trust and relationships in a complex and diverse environment. Intrapreneurial mindset, ability to motivate and thrive success across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Supply Chain Expertise: Proven track record and 5+ years' experience in supply chain management on BESS technology, alternatively in renewable energy sector, profound knowledge of procurement process and supply chain challenges.
  • Commercial Negotiation and Technical Expertise: Experienced in commercial negotiations, creating solutions, and delivering value for the business. Strong technical expertise on BESS systems and related technical knowledge.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English and fluency in German and/or French, knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
