Zug, Zug, Schweiz SHL Group Vollzeit

Job Overview

The Global Simulation Department, under the umbrella of the CTO organization, provides simulation expertise to ensure the feasibility, quality, and robustness of our products. The main department responsibilities include product development, simulation models development and validation, material model development and validation, documentation of best simulation practices/workflows, training materials development, and training support.

The System Simulation Engineer reports to the Head of Simulation and is responsible for building system-level simulation models to be used during innovation, product development, and product care.

As part of the Global Simulation team, he/she will closely collaborate with designers, requirements, system, simulation, testing, and process experts based across our global sites to drive alignment and gather, develop, and document knowledge.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other departments to set up, drive, and maintain a global roadmap for system simulation.
  • Drive the execution of projects to build new capabilities, document knowledge, and assumptions used in models.
  • Support innovation, design, manufacturing process development, and Root Cause Analysis by scoping, planning, executing, and reviewing simulation requests.
  • Interface with designers to recommend design changes required based on analysis results.
  • Interface with other stakeholders (i.e., requirement engineering, design, regulatory, testing, and process development) to ensure all relevant knowledge and assumptions are clearly categorized and accounted for in simulation models.
  • Author high-quality technical reports, simulation workflows, procedures, and training material.
  • Support simulation capabilities development and optimal workflow definitions.
  • Author training material to be used at different levels in the organization and deliver trainings.
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate with internal and external customers to ensure simulation results are well communicated and understood.

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong theoretical understanding of Model-Based System Engineering, coupled with a good understanding of basic physical phenomena (mechanical, electrical, electronics, fluid) applied in a business context.
  • Experience in multiple software for system simulation (i.e., Simulink, Modelica, Altair Twin Activate, ANSYS Twin Builder), at least one coding language (C, Python, or similar), as well as executing calculations and simulations.
  • A strong high-level mental framework that can see connections between modules and systems but also understand the details and assumptions behind each submodel.
  • Very strong communication skills both at a technical level (to communicate complex concepts in an easy fashion) and stakeholder-wise (to gather and share relevant knowledge in an effective way).
  • Positive, can-do, persistent, and curious attitude, good teamworking across geographical sites and cultures.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in system simulation models for electro-mechanical medical devices for micro-mechanical devices and micro-fluidics.
  • Experience in collaborating with requirements engineers and designers.
  • Project management exposure and Certification (PMP preferred).
  • Experience/Interest in medical standards.
  • Experience/Interest in workflow standardization and optimization.
  • Willingness to travel (US, TW, SE) if needed up to 20 days/year.

We Offer

  • A company culture with a focus on customer satisfaction, operating with ethics and integrity, driving simplicity, learning and improving, and delivering together.
  • Modern working environment with state-of-the-art facilities and technologies.
  • Challenging assignments in a fast-growing and innovative industry.
  • Position in a dynamic, international team of highly skilled professionals.
  • Various opportunities for personal and professional development within a global organization.
  • Flexible hours and hybrid working policy.
