We are seeking a highly skilled English language specialist to join our team at OCHA. As a Senior Reviser, English, you will be responsible for revising translations covering a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations, including those of an exceptionally sensitive, complex or technical nature.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in translation and revision, with a minimum of ten years of experience in this field. They will also have excellent knowledge of language technologies and tools, as well as a high level of versatility, judgement and discretion.
Responsibilities
- Revises translations covering a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations.
- Drafts and/or revises original summary records covering a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations.
- Makes effective use of relevant language technologies and tools.
- Directs the identification of new terminology material and plays a leading role in the setting of terminology standards.
- Contributes to the professional development of staff, including coaching, overseeing the preparation of manuals and guidance, and delivering or arranging training activities and materials.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A first-level degree from a university or institution of equivalent status.
- At least ten (10) years of experience in translation or in another relevant language field, and in the use of relevant language technologies.
- A perfect command of English, which must be your main language.
- Excellent knowledge of two other official languages.
