Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Cartography Researcher to join our team at the Institute of Cartography and Geoinformation. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a generic and descriptive approach, language, and programming library for describing and publishing digital story maps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a generic and descriptive approach, language, and programming library for describing and publishing digital story maps.
  • Implement different types of story maps, such as scrolling narrative, journey/guided tour, time-based, camera/scale-based, or other additional storytelling modes.
  • Design a graphical user interface to allow map editors to input multilingual story map content into the generic structure.

Requirements

  • MSc or MA degree in Geomatics, Geography, Computer Science, Interaction Design, Visual Communication, or a similar program.
  • Expertise and interest in data structures, data formats, storytelling, multimedia content, user experience design, graphical user interfaces, and programming with TypeScript and Python.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; German language skills are an advantage.
