Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Discovery Scientist in Phytotechnology to join our Nutreco External team. As a key member of our Discovery Group, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising phytotechnology discovery projects. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying potential candidates for discovery projects, investigating plant candidates for their potential use as botanical ultra-specialties, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the discovery work by identifying possible candidates for discovery projects.
- Investigate plant candidates for their potential use as botanical ultra-specialties, based on their phytochemical profile and their pharmacological activities.
- Collaborate with the Nutreco External Plant Development Group and Plant Production Group team as well as the Deployment Group.
- Evaluate research data, prepare reports, and collaborate in writing scientific papers.
- PhD or master's degree in Biology or PhD in Life Science with focus on Ethnobotany / Ethnopharmacy, or on Pharmacognosy, and/or on Botany.
- Specific knowledge in one or several of the following areas: plants and their secondary metabolites, plant systematics, phytochemistry, nutrition/physiology/pharmacology, in vitro bioassays, experimental pharmacology, natural product development, publishing scientific papers.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, proficiency in German is a plus.
- Ability to travel, up to 15 - 20% of the time, for visits to our sites and for collaborative meetings offsite.
