Lead Aerospace Stress Engineer

As part of our innovative team at Kopter, we are currently engaged in the development of the AW09, a state-of-the-art single-engine helicopter that boasts the most spacious cabin and cargo capacity in its class, enhanced modularity, and advanced electronic systems. The AW09 adheres to the latest safety standards while providing superior performance and comfort at reduced operational costs.
Kopter is positioned to become Leonardo's Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and a hub for pioneering technologies, contributing to the advancement of hybrid and electric propulsion systems. Our team comprises 320 skilled professionals primarily located in Switzerland.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Analysis Lead Engineer with extensive expertise in structural stress analysis to join our dynamic team.

► Perform sizing and stress analysis of airframe structures utilizing hand calculations, numerical simulations (FEM), and optimization methods.
► Conduct structural analysis in compliance with aerospace analysis methodologies and relevant regulatory standards.
► Execute trade studies as part of the product development lifecycle.
► Carry out static and fatigue analysis for structures in the process of obtaining necessary flight permits or aircraft type certifications.
► Engage in the definition of material and structural testing protocols.
► Prepare detailed analysis reports, technical documentation, and presentations.
► Manage and oversee work packages executed both internally and externally.
► Support flight test activities with a focus on structural integrity, including defining monitoring limits and reviewing flight test data.

Qualifications & Experience

► Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering or a related field.
► Strong understanding of lightweight structural design principles.
► At least 5 years of professional experience in the aerospace or aviation sector.
► Familiarity with applicable regulatory frameworks.
► Proficient in English (minimum B2 level, both spoken and written).
► Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with high demands for delivery.
► Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and working independently.

Essential Skills:
► Proficient in first principles analysis.
► Knowledge of traditional hand calculation techniques.
► Experience with composite materials and their analysis.
► Familiarity with FEA tools such as Hyperworks, Hypermesh, and Nastran/Optistruct or similar software.
► Expertise in optimizing lightweight structures.
