About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer to join our team at RepRisk AG, a pioneer in the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data science field. As a Senior Java Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications for mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design, develop, and implement AWS Kubernetes-ready APIs in Java, leveraging advanced technologies such as Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, Reactive Microservices, GraphQL, SSO, Docker, and other modern tools.
  • Software Development Lifecycle: Engage actively in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from initial concept through to deployment and beyond, ensuring robust and scalable solutions are delivered on time.
  • Code Quality and Testing: Produce high-quality, well-structured, and thoroughly tested code that adheres to industry best practices, meeting both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Design Alignment: Guarantee that all designs align with detailed specifications and project requirements, ensuring consistency, reliability, and scalability in the final product.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including technical leads and application developers, to seamlessly integrate multiple AWS services into the overall system architecture, ensuring smooth implementation and deployment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement efforts by exploring and evaluating new technologies, methodologies, and frameworks. Present these findings for architectural review, offering innovative solutions that enhance system performance and maintainability.
  • Technical Documentation: Craft comprehensive and well-organized Technical Design Documentation, detailing architecture, design patterns, and implementation strategies, to ensure clarity and consistency across the development process.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Mentor and guide the development team in areas such as prioritization, problem-solving, and issue investigation, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Assist team members in overcoming technical challenges, enhancing their skills, and ensuring the successful resolution of complex issues.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Experience: Extensive hands-on experience in software development, with a track record of successfully delivering projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proven expertise in Java, RESTful APIs, Spring framework, relational databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL, and microservice architectures. Strong analytical abilities with a deep understanding of algorithms and data structures. Practical experience with message queuing systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Cloud Experience: Proficiency in developing server-side components within a cloud environment, particularly utilizing microservice architecture with Spring Cloud and Spring Boot. Experience with AWS-managed services, including API Gateway, Lambda, and RDS.
  • Additional Skills: Familiarity with additional technologies is a plus, such as Java 21+, OpenTelemetry (OTel), Spring Batch, Spring Security, WebFlux / Reactive Microservices, Mockito, Elasticsearch, GraphQL, and Keycloak or other SSO technologies.
  • Soft Skills: A strong passion for driving product development and making data-driven decisions through analytical thinking. Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills.
