About the ProjectOmphalotin A, a ribosomally synthesized dodecapeptide macrocycle, displays toxicity towards the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita. Additionally, it shows immunomodulatory activity similar to cyclosporin A. Our hypothesis is that omphalotin A targets a different intracellular protein of immune cells to exert its function.
To address this question, we plan to use two different proteomics approaches to identify the target protein of omphalotin A in immune cells.
